Press Briefing Of Goodwill Ambassador Awards 2013
The founder and organizer of Goodwill Ambassador Awards 2013 Mr Chris Odey had a press briefing Thursday 26th September 2013 at the prestigious signature restaurant located at Wuse 2 Abuja.
The press briefing started out with introductions of all media house representatives present at the event. The idea of organizing this award according to the founder is not to make it the day to day awards the people normally receive, but to acknowledge persons doing more of humanitarian and selfless services (philanthropist), people who have contributed immensely to societal transformation, promoting youth development, creating awareness and advocating on human rights etc.
So many people in our society embezzle money for material purposes and never remember the less privileged which are still part of our society.
For 5 years now we have been doing a'lot of charity events like Top Celebrity Fashion Show which all proceeds went to motherless homes. We took A list top Nigerian celebrities to spend time with the children and gave them gifts. All donations came in goods not cash and were all given 100% to the homes visited.
All award recipients are based on merits, judged by people making a difference in our society. The award is self sponsored, since this is the maiden edition, we are still creating awareness and it is going to be an annual event. There are different categories of the awards and some of the names are short listed here.
Dr Mrs Merit Gordon Obua,Her Excellency Mrs Uloma Ekaette Akpabio,Aisha Babangida,Comrade Abba Moro, Sir (Dr) Mike Okiro,Dele Momodu,Sam Nda-Isiah,Mrs Tosin Dokpesi,Mo Abudu,Michael Collins (Don Jazzy),Cobams etc.
The event comes up on Thursday the 31st of October 2013 at the Sheraton hotel Abuja by 6PM.
Julietta Magazine asked the founder what is your driving force and he simply said "The gospel i'm preaching is goodwill, do good it pays."
